Internet

This is tenth year I have had internet at home and things have changed a lot since then.

(I just e-mailed the one and only net buddy I have from way back then, to remind him of our ten year anniversary!)

For the first two years I had some of the craziest times on MS Chat and eventually migrated to ICQ. Before, when I imagined what the internet was about, this was it. Meeting friends from all corners of the globe and talking about everything under the sun.

After getting bored with chat, I moved on to internet dating for a while. My stories are not nearly as interesting as most, but it kept my sister, sisters-in-law and my close friends entertained.

I’m a total information junky, so for the next few years I only found articles to read about a variety of topics and also read message boards, without getting involved in many. I did for a short time have heated discussions on the Bold and the Beautiful message board, except for one tiny detail. I have not watched that soap in more than 10 years.

The beginning of last year led me to e-commerce, and especially the auction site. All this culminated nicely with a web design course, my website and an introduction to blogging earlier this year.

I think the biggest change over the past few years is that the internet has become a lot more connected. Now that I have my own website, I can truely see Web 2.0 at work.
