Ai! That Julius Malema!
I think I may be warming up a bit to Julius Malema, resident idiot.
This morning I woke up, all upset that it’s Monday morning and I have to go work. Then the news came on Capetalk, announcing Julius Malema’s latest utterances – calling Helen Zille a racist (I would not have thought that was true until I heard Mrs Zille’s condescending interview on Capetalk last week).
Anyway, I was up like a flash with a huge smile - and thought aloud that Julius Malema is a genius fool to get all the bigwigs in the opposing parties to comment and the media to report the stuff that comes out of his mouth.
Seriously, who can come up with the things he spouts and get all that attention? He’s not running for any particular office – he’s 28 years old and has another 7 years in a cushy position as ANCYL leader.
What does Julius Malema have to lose, except the attention that he seeks. But the media and other parties think they are belittling him. Instead they are giving him the platform that he craves.
Some people think his utterances is creating support for opposition parties, but I beg to differ. Whenever the other parties comment on his nonsensical statements, they look even more stupid.
What’s a little censure from the ANC big boys now and then. They are probably laughing their arses off before putting on a serious face for the media.
The only way to stop Malema is to stop reporting his every word. But why should the media do that?
He sells newspapers and causes the airwaves to buzz.
He’s not going anywhere, until this election is over.

As long as someone sees humour in Malema’s behaviour… He is a dangerous man and anyone with an understanding of history, politics or Africa should see the writing on the wall with this fool. He is openly racist and sexist – add to this ignorance and downright stupididy… a dangerous mix. He will cause much damage in our country before he is out of the political landscape.

Malema is an idiot IMHO.
I give his words absolutely no weight. I give him no credit for having a teeny tiny bit of intelligence.
He says stuff just to get into the news and then carries on. The media has made Malema into a threat in the minds of certain people.
On the ground he is nothing but a class clown.

People fail to see the similarities between Malema and Mugabe’s late war veterens’ leader Chenjerai ‘Hitler’ Hunzvi. They both were never taken seriously by mainstream media, but regardless of that, the reality is such that 100 000′s of their supporters do take them seriously. In a country that only recently whitnessed ghastly zenophobic attacks we should be extra sensitive to public figures who are reckless with their statements and incite their followers.

@Wazza
“He is openly racist…”
Just to let all the white people out there know, just because Mandela forgave the apartheid government for all the atrocities they committed during apartheid does not mean every other black person has. I know a lot of racist black people, whose racism is (in my opinion) justified.
And I do not think Julius Malema is as dumb as everyone makes him out to be (sure he can keep his mouth shut at times). Malema’s command of the English language is not great, I think that’s what makes a lot of white people think he is dumber than he really is.
As for the debates, Malema and Zuma better not debate Zille and her garden boys, unless the debate will be conducted in either Sepedi (Malema’s first language) or Zulu (Zuma’s).

Hi Mmakgo
I agree with you 100%. If any debate takes place – and I see no reason why the ANC should debate a minority party – it should be in Malema or Zuma’s first language.
I also agree that there are still hurts of the past that everyone wants to sweep under the carpet, but until people are still affected by the results of the past, it will be alive and well.

Hi Mmakgodiakgogo,
Firstly I stand by what I say – Malema is a racist and a sexist. He has made irresponsible remarks on a whole host of issues. People are free to believe in what they want but when someone is in the public eye they have more responsibility. ie not to make statements that serve no purpose other than to incite. And if in your opinion you think some are “justified” to be racist – more power to you. I for one do not think any racism is acceptable. As its this tye of justification that allows inhumane policies like apartheid to be implemented in the first place. Just back then it was some Afrikaaner who thought his/her racism was justified thats all. Its all wrong – racism has no place in modern SA, Im not saying it doesnt exist – just that everyone should make a concerted effort to do away with it and justifying it or making excuses for racists is just ridiculous.
Onto your next point – regarding Malema. If he were allowed to debate in his first language he would look even more foolish infront of his comrades and RSA at large – lets not forget that this is a man who after all got an “E” in matric for Sepedi (his home language)even his english marks were higher. So no i dont think it makes a difference what language he uses – he is a mampara plain and simple, and a racist one at that. Justify it to yourself however you will but Malema and his president Zuma are about the worst candidates the people could have wished for.

“See no reason why they should debate a minority party..” Abigail seriously whats your boggle girl? They are the official opposition yet you see no need why they should debate? What about two words very foreign here in Africa namely “democratic process” Democratic Process that is why he should debate the DA. If not for that than for the ANC’s weekly newsletter (which I am a subscriber to)in which he promised to widen policy debates. Come on Abigail… No wonder posters get frustrated by your responses – you constantly contradict yourself. You said you support our democracy but see no need to debate the official opposition? Laughable…

Actually Zille’s is fluent in several languages and could debate both Zuma and Malema in a language of their choice.

This is rich coming from someone who earlier responded to my comments on another Blog saying she believes 100% in the Demoncratic process!!! Hahahahahahaha …. what a contradiction and what total and absolute arrogance. So let me get this right then: No-body is permitted to debate the Jesus Christ Superstar ANC ?

You said it, Clubber.

Clubber,
If Zille is fluent in Sepedi and Zulu, then cool.
It will be nice to see her royal highness do her thing in one or two of the other official languages.
