Yesterday President Kgalema Motlanthe officially declared, what we already knew to be a fait accompli.

Election Day on 22 April was gazetted as a public holiday in terms of Section 2A of the Public Holidays Act 1994 (Act No. 36 of 1994)

Since 1994 all election days have been declared public holidays so the President’s actions was expected.
