A Cold Dark Winter Awaits Cape Town as Rates and Electricity Prices Increases Again

For all we know Earth Hour will be taking place quite frequently in Cape Town from 1 July.

Our electricity rates are going up by 33.9% from that day, making electricity almost a luxury.

We understand the reasoning behind the increase – we’ve heard it all before.   Eskom blah blah blah.  Whatever!

What I don’t understand is the logic behind putting prices up in winter.

Kown to be the coldest harshest months of the year, especially in Cape Town.

Why not start in summer or spring or even autumn, when we’re all still positively glowing in the sunshine?  Bad news in summer is still bad news, but at least we are less likely to go into deep depression when the sun is shining.

Come 1July  will we be trying to stay at work as long as possible to stay warm for free?

Many of us are already trying to save as much electricity as is humanly possible.  Should there not be some incentive for people who use less electricity?

I guess the attempt is no longer to get us to use less electricity, because we are already doing so.  The goal is just to get us to pay more for the electricity we already use!

Supersport To Meet With Joost

Cape Talk 567′s Eyewitness news reports that Joost van der Westhuizen is to meet with  Supersport management tonight.

Joost is implicated in the sex tape featuring Marilize van Emmenis, the former Teazer model.  He is also accussed of doing the drug CAT with van Emmenis several times.

After an illustrous rugby career with the Blue Bulls and Springboks, Joost started his second career as rugby commentator at the pay channel, Supersport.

As a rugby player Joost was admired for his skill on the field and good looks and pleasant manner off it.

After his divorce he entered  a high profile marriage to singer and former Lotto girl Amor Vittone, which was often covered in family magazines and tabloids.

The relationship was said to be modelled on the marriage of Posh Spice - Victoria Beckham – and England soccer player David Beckham.

Life in the van der Westhuizen household seem to be emulating the Beckham marriage with a very public illicit affair and rumours of multiple infidelity.

It is not known whether van der Westhuizen’s job at Supersport is on the line, since rugby commentators are not as high profile as current rugby players.

Bold & Beautiful’s Hunter Tylo takes back abusive boyfriend

First it was beautiful young successful singer Rihanna who shocked the world when she was left bruised by boyfriend Chris Brown.

Now comes the news that  soap star Hunter Tylo – Dr Taylor Hayes on the Bold and the Beautiful - applied for a restraining order last May against boyfriend Corey Colfield.

Hunter’s daughter told the family doctor that Colfield had shouted at her and her sister and hit them with a belt.

Tylo also claimed that her boyfriend had grabbed her by the neck at one time.

Then the shocker in October last year when Tylo had the restraining order withdrawn!

She claims Colfield had gone for counselling and was attending couple’s therapy.

What the heck is wrong with women?  Are they afraid to be alone?

It is well known that Tylo’s one daughter was born with an eye problem, so reading how she put her children at risk with an abuser is very disappointing.

It’s one thing to put yourself at risk, as Rihana has done, but putting your children at risk is beyond belief!

SABC 3 Gets Rid of Presenters

Thank the tv gods! SABC 3 have finally seen the light and taken those pointless presenters off our tv screens.

I am currently on 2 weeks annual leave and turned on the tv to watch The View – my guilty holiday pleasure.

The pleasure became a lot more pronounced when one of the presenters appeared on the screen to bid viewers farewell, followed by a notice from SABC 3 announcing a presenter-less future.

Oh happy day!

Those presenters were the bane of my existence.

They ruined many an episode of Survivor and Law and Order with spoiler talk, minutes before the episodes were about to be aired.

I had become proficient about reaching for the remote to silence the irritations.

At times though I had to throw myself across the room, muttering ugly  swear words while trying to find the mute button on the remote control.

Now I can surf the net in peace while watching tv.  No longer will I have to look out for their inane chats.

I hope they all find jobs somewhere, but very happy they’re gone.
