IPL Opener Sold out at Newlands

By Friday 3 April, tickets for the opening match at Newlands have already been sold out!

Within a few hours of tickets going on sale, the double header and opening ceremony on 18 April was sold out.

It just shows how popular cricket in this country is.

After a full domestic season and a series of 6 tests, 4 T20 matches and 10 one dayers against the Austalians, local fans are hungry for more cricket.

IPL T20 fever is definitely high in Cape Town – as I’m sure it is around the country.

Yesterday I heard a fun advertisement on the radio – a ‘telephone conversation’ between Freddie Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen.

Sort of ribbing each other about no longer being friends during the T20 games.

During this week John Maytham on Cape Talk asked a caller (who wanted to know when IPL tickets would be available) what she was prepared to pay for the Newlands matcheds.

Her reply: whatever it costs!
