7de Laan: Emma’s Weight Loss

Gorgeous Emma, played by Bertha Wahl (Le Roux) on 7de Laan carried a bit of weight when we first met her.

She returned from maternity to the 7de Laan set  a bit heavier but subsequently lost 10kg through Weigh-less.

According to Sarie, Bertha reached a peak and then…nothing.

She then went on another diet called Dr Cohen’s first personal diet and lost 15 kg in two months!  She now wears a size 32.

The diet is apparently based on your blood test results.

  • You take a blood test in a nearby lab.
  • Your blood sample is put thru multiple tests. (Sugar level, liver functions, and more).
  • The results are sent to our doctors at the 1st Personal Diet.
  • Our doctors prescribe you with a personal eating program based on YOUR blood test results.
  • According their website,  the diet:

  • Is a balanced eating plan and not a high protein diet.
  • Exotic foods aren’t needed (just the food already in your kitchen).
  • You may eat many types of food on the program (various types of red/white meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, dairy products such as cheese and yogurt, etc.).
  • No “tonics” or “pills” are involved… your food becomes your medicine so food quantities and combinations become very important!
  • A Day of Bertha’s Diet Plan looks something like this:
    She can put together her on daily menu, which inlcudes protein and vegetables.
    Daily she can have up to 5 Crackerbread biscuits and 2 fruits, as well as diet cold drinks, coffee and tea(with sweatner – no milk or sugar) and enough water.

    * Mornings
    An egg with spinach or mushroom and
    1 Crackerbread-biscuit.
    Coffee or tea.

    * Snack
    When she feels for something sweet, Bertha puts some cinnamon on a Crackerbread biscuit and eats with with a piece of fruit.

    * Afternoon
    A tin of tuna with half a tomato, baby marrow, mushrooms, cucumber and balsamic vinegar.

    * Snack
    A piece of fruit and Crackerbread biscuits.

    * Evening
    Stir fry with chicken or red meat(no fat) and vegetables.

      Wat ‘n belewenis om jou so te sien. Ek het hou op 7de Laan leer ken en nou ken ek jou amper nie!!
      Ek is 55 jaar oud en sukkel vir baie jare al met my gewig. Op en af en heen en weer.
      Soos ek jou nou sien, is jy vir my ‘n voorbeeld en inspirasie en sal ek graag jou program wil volg.
      Weens swak ekonomiese toestande tans, kan ek ongelukkig nie die program aankoop nie.
      Ek sal so gelukkig wees indien jy my kan help om dalk net ‘n spyskaart vir een week aan my te voorsien. Baie sukses met jou loopbaan word jou toegebid en sterkte met die pragtige figuur!!

      I know , I did the Dr Cohen’s diet and lost 12kgs in 2months, Then December came all hell broke loose. Im now struggling to get back and my file was closed after not going for my monthly blood tests. Now to re-do the diet will Cost me.

      Emma ek voel soos die 55 jarige tannie. Ek moet se jy lyk wonderlik ek was ook jare gelede by w less en het net nie nou meer die krag daarvoor nie. Wat stel jy voor ek sou ook graag wou gesien het wat jy alles eet. Dink jy dit verskil van persoon tot persoon. As ek bloed laat toets hoe kom ek by Dr C uit?

      Where r u situated? I am in CPT and starting the Dr Cohens diet, had the blood tests taken today. If you need more info you can get it all on there website, http://www.1stpersonaldiet.com I tracked down the clinic in CPT there only seems to be one and the they send the results to DR Cohen you just have to get the blood test done yourself the rest is upto them.

      Jy lyk stunning hoor , ek is ook op daai dieet….maar sukkel om vas te byt, ek bly in Standerton & dis baie koud hier ! Kan ek dalk ‘n foto kry van die rok wat jy aangehad het in 2 Julie 2009 se 7 de Laan , jy & Herman was na ‘n liefdadigheids funksie toe.

      I’m doing the diet now, its been a week. very hopeful and I’ve seen so many of my colleagues succeed on this diet!you should really go back and make sure that you go on the re-feeding programme where they intoduce back all other feeds to your system.

      Bertha, jy is n insperasie vir baie. Ek is op die TLC dieet, het 13kg in 6 weke verloor. Nog n ver pad vir my voor maar ek gaan nie opgee nie. Dit is baie soos Cohen sin (my ma het baie jare terug baie gewig op Cohen verloor) Julle wat vra vir die eet plan. Jy kannie iemand anders sin gebruik nie. Hulle werk dit uit volgens bloed toetse. Elke een is uniek.

      You know if you cheat once it puts you back a week. I’ve never cheated and won’t untill I’m done. To think it will take a week longer, it’s just not worth it. Good luck.

      This I can tell you. With both Cohen and TLC the first 10 days are hard. You can have headaches and diarrhoea from your body getting rid of toxins. After that you start feeling great and the cravings are less. I do crave things sometimes but only when it’s infront of me. But I don’t touch it. I guess it’s like smoking. When you quit and then start taking the odd puff here and there, soon you will be smoking fulltime.

      I last saw a colleague of mine in March this year and we are both overweight. We used to have dinner together.
      Anyway, we met up this week again (first time since March) and I could almost not recognise her. She is on Dr Cohen’s diet and lost 30kg so far! She looks amazing!

      So I am definitely going to do it. I will borrow the money but I am definitely doing it. I want to lose at least 40kg.

      I don’t know? All I can think of is that: if it was easy to be thin, EVERYBODY would be thin…
      And most people – like myself – are eating too much anyway…

      I was on Sureslim for almost two years, I lost 22 kg (yes, I cheated in-between), but gained it all back, plus extra after my wedding! Sureslim also said that you don’t get hungry, but I was starving for the first 2 weeks! After that I had to remind myself to have my meals, because you really do not get hungry. And you don’t crave.
      I just somehow couldn’t manage to go back on it.

      What is motivating me with the Cohen diet is all the testimonies of people who had lost weight and were able to keep it off. I watched a video clip on the site: http://1stpersonaldiet.com/

      Also, the re-feeding program sounds very good. Of course you will have to eat healthy thereafter, and, my husband has to watch his cholesterol so it would be good to eat healthy anyway.

      (Maybe it’s psychological as well in my case in the sense that it is a new eating plan and I will be able to stick to something new…?)

      This colleague of mine who had lost 30kg: she said she hadn’t cheated even once. And I say – if she can do it, so can I!

      I know I am witing a lot now, but I feel so motivated! The people who lost weight don’t even have loose skin! (And this is people who had lost like 90kg!) And the thing is, they are not just thinner, they all look SKINNY! I WANT TO BE SKINNY!

      Marle, I think it’s about all round health. If someone is healthy and happy being a bit overweight then that’s okay.
      With Bertha…she looks even happier and more confident than before.
      Not that being thin cures all. Actually in an article on sarie.com, Bertha is said to still be a bit self conscious about her hips and thighs.

      Sjoe jy lyk absoluut stunning. Ek was 75kg voor my baba wat in maart 2009 gebore is. Ek het 100kg geweeg toe ek ingaan, het keiser gehad en nie geborsvoed nie.

      My gewig hak vas by 92/93kg ek tel nie op of verloor enige iets nie

      Die dokter het my tot op duromine gesit wat vir obese mense is, maar dis nou my 3de maand en niks kom af nie

      Wat het dit gevat van jou as mens om te doen wat jy gedoen het want eerlik waar ek hou van my kos, ek oor eet nie maar ek wil eet wat ek wil maar dit help nie op die stadium nie en my wilskrag is nie daar nie want ek voel nog baie moeg ook

      Jy gee my elke aand hoop om gewig te verloor as ek jou sien, ek lyk omtrent soos jy gelyk het voor jy gewig verloor het maar ek het nodig om 15-20kg verloor want ek dink my moegheid is ook deel van my oorgewig want ek is glad nie gelukkig met myself nie

      Ek dink jy lyk stunning, ek sukkel self met my gewig al vir jare en het verlede jaar op ‘n hoe proteine dieet gegaan en heelwat verloor, maar het nog baie om te verloor. Kan jy asb vir my net een of twee weke se spyskaart stuur sodat ek dit kan probeer en sien of dit verskil maak.

      I am on the program for 12 days now and I feel great!

      I do not get hungry at all! The first 2 days was the hardest, but now I do not get hungry at all. People around me can eat anything and I don’t feel like I want it at all.
      I can even prepare food for my husband and myself separately and I do not feel like taking one bite of his food.

      They recommend that you weigh yourself once a month, so I am only going to weigh myself in about 2 weeks. I can already feel from my trousers that I have lost weight. (Am so curious about how much!)

      This is the first eating plan that I’m on where I don’t feel like cheating.
      It’s not as hard as I thought and the recipe book makes it soooo much easier for variety as well…

      Hi Marle I’m so glad I found this blog. You are truly an inspiration to me. I’v been on dr. Cohen for 2 weeks, but with my busy social life I’ve stopped. But after reading how positive you are I’m seriously considering to go back on it as soon as possible. The hardest part is to go back on this diet, but jeezzzzz somewhere I must find the strengh to do it and do it properly. I have about 35kilos to loose.
      And every day I hate myself just a little more for doing this to my body. So it’s going to be tuff especially over Christmas and New year’s eve, but I’ll figure something out.

      Ek het ook vir my bloedtoets kontant betaal, Dit was so R670 gewees. Ek het sover in 2 weke 7kg verloor. Jy moet wilskrag he en vasbyt, die eerste 3-4 dae is rof en moeilik. As jy die resepte boek gebruik is die diet baie makliker. Moenie moeg raak vir die kos wat jy moet eet nie hou in gedagte dat dit nie vir die res van jou lewe jou diet kos sal wees nie net vir tyd en wyl. Baie sterkte!!! Mens voel ongelooflik goed as die kg’s so drop. Laat weet hoe dit gaan

      I have lost 13kg in 8 weeks and if you have to drop the diet because of your social life, I travel at least 4 days in a week (mostly 5 days)and spend the time in hotels. I take clients out 3 – 4 times per week and yet I can say I have not cheated once.

      Hi,

      I need to start with some diet in the next week or so and need to make a decision on which one. Does this really work cause it’s a lot of money? What happens to your cravings? The menu’s that supplied… is it your everyday stuff that you have in your house? Does it need a lot of prep cause I’ve got a 16mnth old baby and she’s busy so I really don’t want stuff that takes a lot of time to prepare.
      Please be honest to say if there are any hick-ups with this diet. All I’m looking for is really something that will work with my body. I also don’t want to regain all this weight and more afterwards..?

      This diet WORKS! I’ve been on many, would loose a kg or two and just pick up more. On this diet you get food lists that you can mix and match veggies with a protien. You can prepare it the way you want(with some rules). They give you guidelines and if you stick to them I promise you will lose weight. The cravings go away after about a week. I was a size 26 and now I’m wearing a 18 going on 16. Good luck it works. Rose

      With every diet if you stick with it long enough you will lose the cravings and the fact that you’ve lost weight & look great you will feel great & hence psychologically your will power is greater.

      But you must stick with it, first to lose weight & secondly to keep the weight off. Honestly you don’t have to get blood tested & have all these analysis for Dr Cohens deit to work, it is generally a low fat, low carb & balanced eating plan. Just get a eating plan from someone & you will lose weight. To keep weight off without continued dieting, you can increase your protein intake & strenghth training while slowly phasing out the diet. I’ve tried this with some of my clients and proved to work well with most even those that it did not work well there were greater results. You can also build endurance for long distance running while on a diet if strenght is not your thing but this requires a great amount of effort & time to do long distances of running (about 10 to 20 Km).

      There are so many diets & all of them work just at varying levels. The difficulty is sticking with it forever if you can’t stick to it forever then an exit strategy is necessary. Either you can stick to it or you have an exit plan or you don’t do it at all.

      I recommend the book I recommend “The Gabriel Method” for anyone who may struggle with dieting or have struggled to lose weight. The author is Jon Gabriel who developed a method of losing weight without dieting, he lost 100Kg on this method himself. The cost is minimal for the book & has been praised for by both health experts & critics, almost all revies are positive.

      I always say & have seen that fat (word used with caution not to offend) people have a better chance in life. Once they lose weight their self esteem sky rockets, they suddenly are motivated to leave, life becomes good and they achieve even the impossible because they believe they can achieve anything. Do yourself a favour & lose the weight.

      Kan iemand my GROOT ASSEBLIEF help????!!! Daar is mense wat sê Cohen se dieet is net soos Sureslim. Ek was op Sureslim, permanent honger en buierig, en nadat ek oopgehou het, het ek dubbel die gewig opgetel!!! Wat ‘n ontnugtering!!!

      En wat is die ooreenkoms tussen Cohen se dieet en TLC? Werk hierdie diete REGTIG??? En tel jy nie weer gewig op sodra jy ophou daarmee nie? Ek is al soveel maal ontnugter en teleurgestel, maar ek is nou op die punt wat gewig verloor my enigste opsie is.

      Jy lyk meer as “STUNNING”. Ek het in 2003 30Kg verloor en alles weer teruggesit. Ek vind dit soms moelik om by n’ dieet te hou. As ek ontsteld raak oor iets dan begin ek weer te eet en kan nie ophou nie. Wat is jou geheim.

      Ek sukkel al jare lank met my gewig en wil tog so graag soos jy lyk. Ek het n’ baie fyn been struktuur en is nie veronderstel om so te lyk nie.

      Hierdie jaar wil ek daadwerklik n’ poging aanwend om gewig te verloor. Ek het geweldig gesondheids probleme; o.a. beide kniee moet vervang word, dan praat ek nie van my rug nie. Gedurig moeg; ens, ens, ens. Jy ken die storie mos.

      Sou jou bitter graag in persoon wil ontmoet het. Ek woon baie naby aan jou; in Weltevreden Park.

      Jy en Dawid maak n’ wonderlike paartjie. Ek dink dat jy n’ briljante aktrise is en doen so voort.

      Ek begin Maandag met die dieet en is baie positief (het so 20kg om te verloor).M

      Ek het gespaar tot ek genoeg geld gehad het om te gaan vir die dieet (R 2200 vir dieet en eerste bloed toetse R 670)

      Die dames in Bloemfontein het baie mooi die program aan ons verduidelik en as jy vasbyt en terug gaan vir jou “re-feeding” dieet jy nie sal spyt wees nie.

      Natuurlik moet jy dit insien as ‘n nuwe leefwyse, want met geen dieet kan jy terug keer na ooreet en te veel soet goed nie. Jy sal defnitief nog jou stikkie koek kan eet maar nie 3keer ‘n week nie.

      My man is baie kwaad vir my oor die dieet, maar ek gaan hom wys. Ek is reg my kop is reg …ek doen dit vir MYSEL!!!! Wil net weer mens voel.

      Baie sterkte aan almal wat op die dieet is.

      Berta (Emma) jy lyk fantasties, ek is 49, enkellopen en oorgewig, ek bewonder jou vir jou uithou vermoe. ek wil graag gewig 15kg verloor en sal graag op jou dieêt wil gaan en hoop net nie dis te veel kos nie , ek weet ek moet gereëld eet, maar soms is daar nie tyd nie en ja dan eet ek net in die aand, ek is heeldag op die pad agv werk en as ek by die huis kom is ek te moeg om nog vir my iets te maak om te eet. nee ek is nie lui nie net gedaan. en nou ge my lewer ook probleme, nee, ek drink nie ek was in vragmotor ongeluk,(pynstillers) is die rede. kan jy my raad gee en help asb??? ek het aanmoediging nodig. mooi dag vir jou. groete Stefanie

I had yorgut and a fruit for B/Fast, for snack I had 2 weetbix,mixed veggies and chicken for lunch and I have jst snacked on grapes. I am going to have vegies and fish for dinner.
