Did overexposure lead to Susan Boyle’s second place in Britain’s Got Talent?
Susan’s debut on BGT was the fifth most viewed video on YouTube, she appeared on a myriad of American talk shows including Oprah and Larry King and was written about by nearly every newspaper on the planet.
She was even hounded by the paparazzi like a celebrity!
In the end perhaps the BGT viewing public were likely sick to death of seeing and hearing of Susan Boyle, because they voted instead for a dance group to win.
Unfortunately the hype around Susan Boyle – not of her own doing – cost her the 100 000 pounds winners purse.
The chances are Susan will put out an album and get invited to sing all over the world.
She deserves every good thing that happens to her from here on in, without the paparazzi chasing of course.
Saturday morning after 7.00am some 55 whales just washed up on Cape Town’s Kommetjie beach causing heart wrenching scenes when police shot some of them in the head.
E-tv news showed scenes of volunteers and police having a showdown on the beach, with the volunteers believing police should have helped move the whales into the water instead of shooting them.
However something in the ocean caused the whales to head to shore, even a few who were succesfully put out to sea.
Volunteers were filmed trying to prevent police from getting near the whales.
Roads leading towards the beach were apparently blocked due to the public trying to see the whales.
It is unclear why the whales tried to get out of the water.
Scientists felt that it was more humane to shoot whales than to simply let them die over a long period of time.
What a traumatic day for everyone involved – especially those poor whales.
Capetalk is reporting that Cape Town Mayor Dan Plato of the Democratic Alliance is taking legal action against Die Son, a local tabloid for libel.
What craziness!
Die Son made allegations on May 21st that Mr Plato was having extra-marital affairs, which Dan Plato claims is libelous.
Could Mr Plato not have written a letter to Die Son to deny the allegations and moved on?
Not everyone in Cape Town seeks out the tabloids and some only do so to look at the pictures.
Seriously…Dan Plato isn’t exactly interesting and surely Die Son didn’t sell one extra newspaper following that story.
How many Capetonians actually heard about the allegations and how many actually cares even if it were true?
Surprisingly the Democratic Alliance led city council – who constantly campaigned on a good governance platform - actually approved funding for such legal action.
They say suing Die Son is in the public interest. (Helen Zille actually said something similar on Capetalk when asked about the botox injections.)
How interested can we really be in the sex lives of politicians?
Actually the public in general knew nothing about the allegations until Dan Plato brought it to our attention himself.
According to IOL.co.za constitutional lawyer Pierre de Vos warned that Dan Plato should not use public funding to fight personal battles because it did not set a good precedent for using public funding to defend private matters.
Plato apparently told Die Son that the allegations were instigated by the ANC!
At least the DA is being consistent in blaming the ANC for all their wrong doings.
Seems like no one wants the Merc given to the Transport Minister S’bu Ndedele.
It is still in his possession according to the Witness.
The consortium who gifted the car worth R1.14million is now considering what to do with it.
Apparently the Merc was funded by individuals personally and not their companies.
Some of these individuals want their money back while others are planning to sell the car and use the proceeds to benefit other potential entrepreneurs. Or so they say.
As one of the construction company directors said: “When we decided to buy the gift it took us months of planning and so this is going to be the same.”
Gorgeous Emma, played by Bertha Wahl (Le Roux) on 7de Laan carried a bit of weight when we first met her.
She returned from maternity to the 7de Laan set a bit heavier but subsequently lost 10kg through Weigh-less.
According to Sarie, Bertha reached a peak and then…nothing.
She then went on another diet called Dr Cohen’s first personal diet and lost 15 kg in two months! She now wears a size 32.
The diet is apparently based on your blood test results.
You take a blood test in a nearby lab.
Your blood sample is put thru multiple tests. (Sugar level, liver functions, and more).
The results are sent to our doctors at the 1st Personal Diet.
Our doctors prescribe you with a personal eating program based on YOUR blood test results.
According their website, the diet:
Is a balanced eating plan and not a high protein diet.
Exotic foods aren’t needed (just the food already in your kitchen).
You may eat many types of food on the program (various types of red/white meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, dairy products such as cheese and yogurt, etc.).
No “tonics” or “pills” are involved… your food becomes your medicine so food quantities and combinations become very important!
A Day of Bertha’s Diet Plan looks something like this: She can put together her on daily menu, which inlcudes protein and vegetables.
Daily she can have up to 5 Crackerbread biscuits and 2 fruits, as well as diet cold drinks, coffee and tea(with sweatner – no milk or sugar) and enough water.
* Mornings
An egg with spinach or mushroom and
1 Crackerbread-biscuit.
Coffee or tea.
* Snack
When she feels for something sweet, Bertha puts some cinnamon on a Crackerbread biscuit and eats with with a piece of fruit.
* Afternoon
A tin of tuna with half a tomato, baby marrow, mushrooms, cucumber and balsamic vinegar.
* Snack
A piece of fruit and Crackerbread biscuits.
* Evening
Stir fry with chicken or red meat(no fat) and vegetables.
