Steve Hofmeyr candidly admitted to rapport.co.za that he had a 14 year affair with Christina Bergh.

He says he saw her once a year during the 14 years, all this while being married to Natasha Sutherland and having an affair with Janine van der Vyver.

The woman actually thought Hofmeyr would leave his wife for her. Doesnt this woman get the Huisgenoot?

She promises to follow in Janine’s footsteps and write a book.

Hofmeyr and his new squeeze lawyer Sune Meyer is apparently amused by the female fans wanting to “screw” him.

He told rapport that 600 women in Sasolberg wanted his body.

Sies! Whats wrong with these women?

The Springboks beat New Zealand 28-19 in Bloemfontein early today.

The Boks led 14-3 at half time, which included a try by Ruaan Pienaar.

The second half was closer, but the Springboks’ Jacque Fourie dotting down for the win.

Well done! Hopefully the media will give Peter de Villiers a break this week.

Of course WP defeated Free State Cheetahs 19-13 at Newlands Friday night.

Rumour has it Jacque Fourie and Wynand Olivier might be playing their rugby next season.

Things are looking up in Cape Town rugby circles.

The Gates Case: When Racism is Okay

There was a huge uproar on one of the forums I visit about Barack Obama calling a policeman’s actions stupid.

My blood boiled when I read the rest of the story.

The policeman was called because neighbours thought someone was breaking into a house.

Turns out the home owner forgot or lost his key and was trying to get in.

Also turns out that the homeowner is a black Harvard professor presumably not wearing a balaclava and brandishing a gun or knife.

Dr Henry Louis Gates was predictably not happy about being apprehended by police for breaking into his own home and went on a tirade against the policeman.

Who wouldn’t?

Showing how far the USA are from being a non-racial society, the discussion centered on Obama siding with a black man and whether Gates should have been arrested!

What? He should be happy that someone saw the colour of his skin and branded him a criminal?

I guess Dr Gates should have been grateful the police pitched at all?

And for his neighbours for not knowing what the occupant of the house looked like?

How about being grateful for not being hung in public view. Or even shot or flogged?

Perhaps Dr Gates should thank his lucky stars he was only arrested.

Checkers offers Cheap Prices at Opening in KC

Checkers opened their new store in Kenilworth Centre, the mall close to my home Thursday.

I only became aware of the opening when a horde of people qued outside Checkers after work today.

All obviously hoping for bargains.

It made me wonder about the whole collussion accussation against major retailers…

If they can offer cheap prices for a special occassion, why not every day?

While I certainly compare prices between especially PicknPay and Checkers, there’s pretty much nothing I would stand in long lines for.

Especially since the prices they’re advertising is valid until 10 August!

But then again I dont have to feed a family.
