District 9 Will Blow Your Mind says Entertainment Weekly
US Magazine Entertainment Weekly put District 9 on its cover in its 8 August issue and declared it the must-see movie of the US summer.

The movie directed by South African born Neill Blomkamp, stars SA actors and was shot in and around Johannesburg, Soweto and Khatlehong.
Blomkamp’s movie was produced by Peter Jackson, cost US$30 million to make and is based on a documentary he co-directed called Alive in Jhb.
So this might just be the first real South African made movie blockbuster! Lets cross our fingers, hold our thumbs etc.
The movies premise is that around 30 years ago aliens arrived on earth.
Humans waited for the hostile attack or giant advances in technology, but it never came.
Instead the aliens are setup in camps in South Africa’s District 9, as refugees, while the world’s nations argues about what to do with them.
Tensions brew between the local humans and aliens (sound familiar?) especially when Wikus van der Merwe, played by Shalto Copley, contracts a virus and becomes the most hunted man on earth.
Wikus is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology.
Ostracised and friendless there is only one place to hide – District 9.
District 9 opens in US cinemas on 14 August.
