Capetonians Confused by Rain

Winter + rain = Cape Town? Right?

Then why do Capetonians get so confused every winter?

A drop of rain falls and all hell breaks loose in the Mother City.

Traffic jams all over the show. Just take a look at the person in the car next to you.

The occupants look almost perplexed as if it never ever rains in Cape Town during winter.

Bartholomeuw Dias learnt a thing or two about the Cape of Storms centuries ago.

But born and bred Capetonians with access to detailed satellite weather reports, are shocked into being bad drivers when those dark heavy clouds gather on Table Mountain.

Not to mention our local WP rugby team at Newlands on a rainy Saturday. Maybe its not only rainy days the play bad rugby, but they save their worst form when the rain comes bucketing down.

Look, if rugby+winter=winter sport and winter+rain=Cape Town then shouldn’t South Africans from Cape Town be able to adapt best to rain and play rugby in the rain?

Arghh now I’m confused!

Maybe its not us born and bred Capetonians but those foreigners from upcountry causing the problems.

Yeah, lets blame them. They’re not used to winter rain.

Haha yes, I remember Cape Town being like that. But that is nothing in compparison to what I have experienced in the UK. If it snows, which it does every year, the whole country shuts down, if it is really hot the whole country shuts down, if it rains, which it does every DAY, everyone says, oh look it is raining. I think it is because the weather is so freaking changeable here that we are surprised by it all the time!
