Telemarketers Are Making Me Lose My Manners
Usually I’m Ms Manners herself.
I’m the kind of person who says ‘thank you’ when a door is held open for me or when someone lets me go ahead in line.
I greet strangers – handsome and homeless alike.
On a normal day I try to be courteous and thoughtful like my mama taught me.
But one call from a ‘private number’ can change everything in a second.

Starting with: “Ms Abrahams, we have good news for you.”
“Because you are such a loyal customer we are offering you a funeral policy. ”
Hello!
From being Ms Nice Woman I already have more funeral policies than one person will need in her life time.
Enough is enough, so I put my foot down. Or rather the phone.
This morning I received a call about a great offer from Liberty Life (with who I already have life and funeral policies and a provident fund).
As I’ve been doing for a while now, I interrupted the nice lady and said, “I’m not interested.”
“What?” she said.
“I’m not interested.” I repeated.
She was still talking when I ended the call.
