Here are pictures of our official Spring Day efforts at our office.

Before we had a quite barren looking concrete space.

After getting our hands dirty, we ended up with a functional organic vegetable patch planted in recycled tyres!

Spring Equinox Today!

We know it’s Spring in Cape Town today because there’s a south easterly blowing and there are a few fluffy clouds over Table Mountain!bunny-with-carrot

We might not get that same feeling tomorrow when the north westerly puts in an appearance and brings more rain.

The Spring Equinox takes place this evening at around 11.19pm though.

The equinox supposedly marks the time when day and night are equally long  i.e. 12 hours, but according to timeanddate.com it is a myth.

Today we’re celebrating the Spring Equinox (a bit early in the day) at work by planting organic vegetables.  We’re joining the www.plantingseason.co.za cause, where they’re attempting to get 1million South Africans planting some organic vegetables.

We’ll be planting  chilli trees, lettuce, spinach, spring onion – and a few I can’t quite remember.

Our outside area at work is already transformed and it’s benefitting us indoors as well.

Some of us go outside for a few minutes to tend the garden or to just enjoy the area.

Hopefully more people will be planting vegetables to welcome spring!

Bryan Habana Gets Married

Bryan Habana and his new wife Janine got married at the Sorex Estate amid tight security from ADT. So unfortunately no photos yet of the Springbok wing’s wedding.habana

Although I’m sure we’ll be seeing photos in You magazine or some other weekly mag as well as on Top Billing.

Like a true celebrity (like Beyonce and Jay-Z), streets were cordoned off to keep nosy unwelcome guests as well as the media away.

Wedding guests were requested not to bring cellphones and cameras to the wedding function.

Attendees are said to include Springboks – Victor Matfield, Schalk Burger amongst them – and sprinter Oscar Pistorius (who had his own Malema moment after a party went awry last week).

Best wishes to the wedding couple.  Can’t wait to see the official photos.

Malema not trying to be an expert of the conduct of women after sex!

Julius Malema actually uttered these words at his hearing at the equality court “I was not trying to be an expert of the conduct of women after sex”.

He went on to say: ““I was never, in whatever way possible, trying to be an expert on rape victims,”

It’s hard to believe he is an expert on anything, much less women.

With the things that come out of his mouth, it’s hard to believe that any woman would find Julius Malema attractive in the least.

Apparently he knows how to throw a party that lasts all night long though.

So he is good for something.

Metrosexual Men and their Beauty Routines

OMW! Friday we had a situation at the office.

A male colleague walked in with his shoulder length hair blow dryed and loose around his shoulders.

A few of us women were standing around waiting for a meeting to start when he appeared.

We looked at each other and tried to contain our giggles, since our colleagues hair is usually greased and tied into a pony tail.

He had been to the hairdresser the evening before, he explained. For a straightener and treatment before getting a trim and blow dry.

Fortunately our colleague saw the humour and joined the group.

What followed was a hilarious conversation about men’s skin care and moisturisers etc.

Some guys admitted to using skin care products. Although they laughed about it.

It made me wonder why some of us find metrosexuals grooming habits funny in reality, but find men like Justin Timberlake and David Beckham more acceptable?

(Personally I prefer ruggedly well groomed.)

I guess we like our men to look and smell nice without knowing the details.

Pretty much like they don’t want to know about our girl talk, hair removal, etc.

Some things just need to stay private.
