Did Tiger Woods get a Golf Club to the Head?

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Thursday brought that dramatic headline – Tiger Woods in Serious condition after car accident.

Shocking news!

Until I got to the part where he was leaving home at 2.30 AM!

A married man, in the early hours of the US Thanksgiving holiday…

Already my female radar was raised with that bit of information.

But still…one of the most famous people in the world was in a ’serious condition’.

By the next day Tiger Woods was released with minor scratches.

Then things got interesting…

Seems like rumour had it that Tiger was having an affair with a New York club hostess who happened to be in Melbourne Australia at the same time as he was playing a golf tournament down under.

Although she said she didn’t see him there.

More news came out later Friday that Elin, Tiger’s wife, had rescued him from the accident by hitting the back window of theis SVU and dragging him out.

Yeah, right.

Mind you any husband leaving home at 2.30 am for reasons other than legitimate ones, should get whacked on the head with a golf club.

Looks like Tiger Woods is human after all!

He put out a statement saying he is “embarrassed” and described his wife as “courageous”.

Oh, and he’s still not talking to the police.

Latest Bee in My Bonnet

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

I’ve been enjoying the start of summer and with all the exercise and healthy living, I felt pretty chilled lately – calm and cool.

Until Wednesday…

I read an article in the Cape Times about sexual harrassment in the workplace – it was part of a series for the 16 days of activism against the abuse of women and children.

Here’s the thing: I probably encountered a handful of violations just this week at my place of work!

Neither the perpetrators or victims were likely aware that the Labour Act was being violated.

Being me, I found the article on the internet and took it to one of our staff reps and asked – no, actually persisted – that it be put on the agenda for our scheduled meeting next week.

Undoubtedly many of my colleagues will be upset with me or they will try to make light of the situation.

Even some of the women.

On the one hand though I feel like a hypocrate for not minding the attention when its from someone I like.

But not so much when the sexual innuendo or jokes come from a greasy looking unattractive dude.

On the other hand there is such a thing as improper work place conduct and a general disrepect for women in (and outside) the workplace.

Fortunately there’s only two weeks to go before we finish the working year.

7de Laan: Just Waiting for Paula to Come Back!

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

None of the current storylines hold much interest for me on 7de laan these days – maybe only Zandile’s return.  I always love the antagonistic chemistry between Zandile and Oubaas.

The two are usually very funny in their scenes- a very proper Zandile, owner of The Heights and Oubaas who is the complete opposite.  Oubaas’ complete fear of the woman!

I liked that short storyline of Zandile finding out about Oubaas, Hilda, Maria and Vince’s plan to rent out flats for World cup 2010 and then going into business with them.

For the rest:

  1. Gita helping Herman was okay – thinking about it now, Herman and Gita might actually make an interesting couple if the writers choose to go there.
  2. Emma gets on my last nerve and so does her boyfriend Dawid.  I will just never like the Dawid character – maybe if they changed the actor.  Dawid actually scolded his ex-wife Tiffany for not keeping him informed about his daughter! Hello…how’s that her responsibility? He acts like he is sooooooo entitled! Can’t stand him! Not liking the actor either.
  3. The ongoing gallery story. OMW! Can you handle Xander and Vanessa first fighting, then making up over every last thing.  Vanessa is my most disliked character on that soapie.
  4. Neville, Charmaine and the house! Grrrrrrr. Mercifully it’s almost over – now we have to just put up with renovations!
  5. I don’t even want to see Altus and San-Mari!  Not until Paula is back.

There is a nice looking young man on the scene. Maybe he’ll liven things up for a while.

The rest is just feeder storylines until Paula returns on 10 December!

Adam Lambert – For Your Entertainment (Video)

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

I love, love, love Adam Lambert who fortunately didn’t win American Idol!    And although I wasn’t offended by his AMAs shenigans on Sunday night, I hardly think it’s necessary for him to go that far over the top.

When asked on one of the US morning shows if he regretted any part of Sunday night’s performance, he said yes.  He could have sang better!  Agreed!

This video is a truer reflection of this singing ability as well as his sexiness and likability!

He doesn’t need the rest, because he already has it all.

You Gotta Love Cape Town

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Not everyone loves the tabloid headlines on lamp poles – but I have to admit that I find them highly amusing most times.

There have been complaints from parents who say they don’t want their children seeing the sensationalistic posters on their way to school in the morning, but I’m sure most of it goes over children’s heads anyway.

This morning’s one was a classic. I think it was our local Cape Town tabloid, the Daily Voice.

It said “Jolmeit’s Diary Today”. (a direct translation would be Party girl’s diary)

The translation though does not do justice to the Cape Flats term – nor probably to the undertone or image that it conjures!

Think ….trailer(without the dog)

As much as I enjoy the headline posters, I have no real interest in reading the article itself.  So unfortunately I cannot say what that girl (mentioned in the poster) has written in her diary.  It surely has to be more entertaining than mine!
