Julius Malema: There is Justice in this World!

This year, 2009, has been all about Julius Malema his shenanigans, and his supposed power within the ANC.

Maybe he  has some sort of power base, but mostly he just said whatever crossed his little mind, causing the media to latch onto his every word.

Yesterday one of his chickens came home to roost.

The SA Communist Party booed Malema off the stage during their Congress and would not allow him to spew his usual nonsense.

They called him a capitalist for his flashy lifestyle.

Obviously perturbed that no one outside the media has any interest in what he has to say, Julius stormed out, saying: “You invite people and then you humiliate them,”

That is how Julius Malema’s cooking is going to crumble.  It won’t be the media or Debra Patta who tries to embarrass and humiliate him.

It will be the very same people he is trying to woo – the ordinary man in the street.

For the most part I’ve chosen to ignore his goings on, because he has nothing to say that I’m interested in.

Yesterday was a sweet moment though…

Cape Town Girls are Easy?

Heart 104.9 employed that fool Phat Joe. He who was somewhat famous a few years ago.

Remember the American accent? It’s still there.

Phat Joe apparently told tabloid The Voice that Cape Town girls are easy according to the headlines on lamp post posters.

Which part of Cape Town are these easy girls from one wonders.

Because I know a few men who would beg to differ.

My colleague actually have a name for women who would lower themselves to sleep with a has-been celebrity.

Backyard specials.

Fortunately I don’t listen to Heart 104.9. And now I have even less motivation to listen to that station.

Year End Buzz

Someone at our office came up with the ‘brilliant’ idea that we all wear either yellow or floral outfits today.  Normally I loathe conforming – but I’m wearing a yellow t-shirt today, even though yellow clothing isn’t exactly my favourite to wear.

It must be the end of the year, otherwise known as the silly season.

The reason we’re doing the yellow thing is because we’re harvesting our vegetables from our garden – before we go on leave tomorrow (YAAAAYYYYYYYY).

As well as saying farewell to two of our colleagues :-(

Anyway…

Our garden is looking sooooo good these days.  They have irrigation set on an automatic timer, so we hope they’ll be happy when we’re away for a month.

Guess Who Had a Birthday Yesterday!

This blog had it’s first birthday yesterday and I forgot! I can’t even believe it.

1stbirthdaycake

Anyway, it’s been much more fun than I could have ever imagined.  Especially early in the year with elections.

When I started this blog I decided to use my real name and state my opinions – whether popular or unpopular.  And that’s how it’s been.

I felt that if I couldn’t stand by what I wrote, I should not write anything at all.

Unsuprisingly, political posts were not amongst the most popular of this blog, although they were probably the most controversial and commented on.

I was called an idiot often during that election period - but I took that to mean ‘job well-done’.

The most popular post over the last year just happened to have been Emma on 7de Laan’s weightloss.

South African celebrity weddings were also popular, especially Cindy Nel’s and Bryan Habana’s.

Most visitors loved the Vodacom Single Ladies Advert, making it the third most popular post.

A few times I’ve nearly run out of bandwidth – the last time in November this year. So during my break from my day job, I will have to rethink how much I want to the blog to grow and whether to upgrade my hosting package.

I look forward to another year of blogging.

Thank you to everyone who popped in over the last year. You’ve made blogging one of the best experiences of the year.

7de Laan: Who is Pieter?

So a handsome new guy turned up in the Laan a few weeks ago.

He is a new barman at the local pub as well as an artist who Isabelle has taken under her wing – surly disposition and all.

Pieter seems to have massive anger issues, to the point of rudeness, although he was still offered him a job at the gallery.

I’m not sure how he is supposed to deal with customers.

Anyway, looks like Annelie will be his love interest.

But why the anger?

From spoilers I’m guessing Pieter is connected to Ryno.

Maybe his son?
