You may have heard of that quote often credited to Nelson Mandela, but originally written by Marianne Williamson.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”
Well, my deepest fear is not that deep. In actual fact many would find it quite strange.
I haven’t told anyone about this fear – not even hinted at it. And you would never guess just by looking at me.
It’s sort of been a secret, unspoken fear. Kind of like my ‘cleaning lady’ phobia.
But what’s a personal blog for if not for writing about dreams and fears?
Sort of cheap therapy via my webhost Afrihost. Not quite free, but cheaper than a therapist. And less embarrasing.
Unless of course someone actually reads this blog!
Anyway, I’m stalling.
Here goes…
My name is Abby and my deepest fear is that I will run out of pencils.
Sjoe! What a relief to get that out.
I go into a near panic when I can’t find a pencil. Which I use for all manner of things.
Like writing (duh), drawing, crosswords, reminders, etc.
And a pen just won’t do.
I’ll normally give the clothes off my back to anyone who asks. But a pencil? Don’t even ask.
Good grief, I’m beginning to think I might need a live-in therapist.

Oh my hat!
So there I was, enjoying some excellent SA batting in during the first test match SA vs India. I looked up at my tv screen yesterday only to see a profile picture of Jacques Kallis looking rather different.
His hair! Was my immediate reaction. Did they use an old photo I wondered.
And then when he scored a century Hashin Amla ran his gloved hands over Kallis’ head. Possibly indicating that the Proteas dressing room was amused by the hair saga.
It looked a bit like a toupe, mind you. But is likely hair implants.
Maybe the new hair will help Jacques Kallis to his maiden test double century?

Last we saw, Paula left the Laan to get divorced in the UK. We haven’t heard a word since.
Of course Diaan Lawrenson left to have a baby, Olivia Rose.
But there hasn’t even been a rumour of her return to 7de laan.
And even more worrying for Paula fans (and there are a few of us) is this picture in the You Magazine of 7de Laan actors and their children.
Pictured are Bertha le Roux Wahl (Emma), Melanie du Bois (Felicity), Hennie Jacobs (Diedrik) and Ivan Botha (Pieter) with their families. And no sign of Diaan and family in sight.
Very surprising as Paula is one of the most popular 7de Laan characters.
Makes one wonder when or rather if Paula will be returning to the Laan.
